چکیده
The complete nucleotide sequence of the 1525 bp 16S ribosomal RNA gene from the rrnE operon of Streptomyces griseus subsp. griseus KCTC9080 was determined (1). The 5' and 3' ends of the 16S rRNA were located with the combination of previous data (2,3,4) and have not been determined experimentally. The nucleotide sequence presented here was determined following the dideoxy method (5) and using M13 universal as well as 16S rRNA specific synthetic oligonucleotide primers. The 16S RNA sequence determined here showed homology values of 96.2% with 5. coelicolor (2), 96.4% with 5. lividans (3) and 96.1% with 5. ambofaciens (4). It is notable that the homology values among other three reference sequences are more than 98%. Figure 1 shows the alignment of highly variable regions (from 171 to 199 nt in our numbering). This region may be valuable for the rapid identification and grouping of Streptomyces species. Figure 2 shows a phylogenetic tree constructed based on the sequence alignment and Knuc values (6). Although the limited number of complete 16S rRNA sequences determined in the genus Streptomyces makes it impossible to ascertain the position of this species, it is certain that S. griseus subsp. griseus comprises a unique branch. 5. lividans (2) and S. coelicolor (3) is more closely related with each other than other organisms.

Proposal to reclassify the Streptomyces albidoflavus clade on the basis of multilocus sequence analysis and DNA-DNA hybridization, and taxonomic elucidation of Streptomyces griseus subsp. solvifaciens.
The Streptomyces albidoflavus 16S rRNA gene clade contains 10 species and subspecies with identical 16S rRNA gene sequences and very similar numerical taxonomic data, including Streptomyces griseus subsp. solvifaciens. Type strains of this clade, as well as three CGMCC strains which were received as Streptomyces galilaeus, Streptomyces sioyaensis and Streptomyces vinaceus, respectively, that sh...
متن کاملA multilocus phylogeny of the Streptomyces griseus 16S rRNA gene clade: use of multilocus sequence analysis for streptomycete systematics.
Streptomycetes are a complex group of actinomycetes that produce diverse bioactive metabolites of commercial significance. Systematics can provide a useful framework for identifying species that may produce novel metabolites. However, previously proposed approaches to the systematics of Streptomyces have suffered from either poor interlaboratory comparability or insufficient resolution. In part...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of the Streptomyces Phage Nanodon
Streptomyces phage Nanodon is a temperate double-stranded DNA Siphoviridae belonging to cluster BD1. It was isolated from soil collected in Kilauea, HI, using Streptomyces griseus subsp. griseus as a host.
متن کاملStreptomyces griseus 45H, a producer of the extracellular autoregulator protein factor C, is a member of the species Streptomyces albidoflavus.
Streptomyces griseus strain 45H, isolated in 1960 during a mutagenesis programme on the industrial streptomycin producer S. griseus 52-1, encodes an extracellular, pleiotropic autoregulatory signalling protein, factor C, which stimulates sporulation of S. griseus 52-1 in submerged culture. The facC gene, which codes for factor C, is present in very few streptomycetes and is not present in S. gr...

Streptomyces griseus strain XylebKG-1 is an insect-associated strain of the well-studied actinobacterial species S. griseus. Here, we present the genome of XylebKG-1 and discuss its similarity to the genome of S. griseus subsp. griseus NBRC13350. XylebKG-1 was isolated from the fungus-cultivating Xyleborinus saxesenii system. Given its similarity to free-living S. griseus subsp. griseus NBRC133...
